Some of you may have heard of Loris Azzaro and his fashion house and some of you may not, but that’s ok because you are about to! His brand is defiantly demanding attention now, so much so that we have to make it a two-part article!!
Azzaro are introducing us to a new chapter of both the Azzaro fashion lines and the Azzaro fragrances, right now we are talking about his fashion (because it’s what we love) and we will talk about the fragrance next time.
Loris spent his childhood in Tunisia and drew clothing designs for his mother from a young age. His passion continued and when he met his wife he designed jewellery for her, working as a model and others asked for similar pieces to be made. Three years later, he created his first fashion accessories business. His wife, Michelle, created the Loris Azzaro company in 1967 and ran it for the rest of his life. At the ‘Ready to Wear Fair’ held at the Grand Hotel, he presented eight spectacular outfits under his signature. It is said that he wanted to ‘make dresses that women put on and men take off.’
After Loris Azzaro lost his battle to cancer, Vanessa Seward took over the artistic direction of the house an stayed there for 8 years. In 2013 the duo Arnaud Maillard and Alvaro Castejon were to take the helm and this turned out to be a crucial appointment for the French label. This year Azzaro is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary and has readied for an October 2017 launch which includes a women’s ready to wear line and also men’s ranges.
Azzaro launched it’s 50th anniversary party by showcasing a celebratory collection on Wednesday 25th January at the Hotel d’Evreux Palace in Paris, as part of Haute couture week. The year long celebrations for it’s anniversary will give Azzaro the opportunity to boost its visibility and power up it’s expansion.
