Some lovely news this month, we have a gorgeous new royal baby to swoon over!! After weeks of speculation and rumours that the Duchess of Sussex had already gone in to labour, we received the news a bouncing baby boy was welcomed in to the Royal family to first time parents to Megan and Harry.
The baby boy was welcomed in to the world on Monday 6th May and proud father Harry made the announcement ‘I am very excited to announce that Megan and myself had a baby boy early this morning, a very healthy baby boy. Mother and baby are doing well. It’s the most amazing experience I could of ever possibly imagined.’
However, we were all left wondering what the newest Royal would be called. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait much longer for the reveal – Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was announced as the name after his first public appearance on the Wednesday afternoon. Unlike William and Kate, who announced their children’s arrival on the stairs of the Lindo Wing, Megan and Harry opted for St Georges Hall, the same venue as their wedding breakfast one year ago.
The Duke of Sussex has since opened up about the joys of fatherhood, saying Archie has given him ‘a new focus and goal’ in his life.
The new parents paid tribute to Archie’s late grandmother and Prince Phillip when they chose his name, it is thought that Archie was chosen for one of Princess Diana’s ancestors Archibald Campbell, the ninth Earl of Argyll and Achie’s hyphenated surname could have been chose to honour his great-grandfather Prince Philip.
The Queen decided not to give her children Philip’s surname which is Mountbatten and chose Windsor instead. This apparently did not go down well, as he was unhappy that tradition is to pass down the family name. After being asked about the baby’s name, royal author Penny Junor said ‘I would think the Duke of Edinburgh would be absolutely thrilled with that.’
We wish this gorgeous new family all the very best and good luck with the sleepless nights!!!
