We had the absolute pleasure of attending this years Manchester Christmas markets for opening day, Friday 8th November 2019, and they did not disappoint! With more than 300 stalls to explore including loads of international foods, drinks and festive gifts to truly immerse you into the Christmas spirit.
We wanted to get there for the opening of the markets at 10am so we did not miss a thing and make sure we got to see all of the amazing goodies for sale before all of the other shoppers arrived. As you would expect some familiar faces from the previous years were there, such as the large selection of French foods in front of the town hall, along with the windmill bar as I call it, and just outside the Arnison centre you can find the usual stuffed reindeers and beautiful wooden houses lit up with tea lights and twinkling away. With loads more beautiful crafts, jewellery, toys, candles and so many more gift ideas your sure to be able to pick up something for everyone in the family.
Of course no Christmas market would be complete without all of the delicious street food to try, and this year was no different, everything from Porky Pigs famous Yorkshire pudding wraps, deep-fried pigs in blankets, German bratwurst, Greek gyros, Spanish Paella, and sweet treats like, Nutella crepes, doughnuts, and thousands of gorgeous chocolate handmade treats and sooooo much more! We tucked into the Yorkshire pudding wrap and the deep-fried pigs and blankets, we normal opt for the German bratwurst or the roast potatoes and creamy garlic mushrooms but decided to try something new and I am so glad I did! If your planning on visiting the markets yourself make sure to do at least two days, just to make sure you can pig out on all the food you can, there was so much more we wanted to try but didn’t get the time to.
The markets are spread around the streets of the city and are easily accessed by car, train or bus and there are plenty city centre hotels to stay for as long as you like.
